GENERAL

The management and staff will always strive to keep our members as safe as possible will visiting the gym through our health and safety policies. It’s also a member responsibility to stay safe and not endanger other members. Please report any faulty equipment or anything you feel is causing a danger to staff straight away and we will act quickly and appropriately to eliminate any risk or danger.

HEALTH COMMITMENT STATEMENT (HCS)

We use the HCS as recommended by UK active for all new members. The HCS is the evolution of the PARQ, which has existed for the past 15 years. The HCS reflects Government policy and legal trends, which recognises that individuals are able when given the appropriate information about the risks inherent in getting active, to make informed decisions about their own health and wellbeing. Ultimately there are very few conditions which cannot be improved by taking regular exercise, and the HCS seeks to make it as easy as possible to get active.

INDUCTIONS

We will always offer free intuitions for all new members who need one or want one. All new members who have never used a gym or have never used our type of equipment will need to book an induction. Experienced gym users can opt-out of taking our free induction if they feel they don’t need it.

 

JUNIOR MEMBERSHIPS EXPLAINED (11 TO 17-YEAR-OLDS)
 
We run a junior class programme designed for juniors between 11 and 15 years old run by our qualified coaches. Click Here to view the class schedule. Age restrictions for Juniors are as follows –
 
11 to 13-year-olds are only able to access the junior classes. Gym access is not permitted.
 
14 to 15-year-olds are able to access the junior classes and the gym. It is compulsory for juniors of this age group to attend the junior gym group induction which runs every Wednesday at 4.15pm.
 
16 to 17-year-olds are able to access the adult fitness classes and the gym.
 

JUNIOR SAFEGUARDING POLICY

All of our Fitness Team Coaches are DBS checked and fully qualified. Our Fitness Coaches understanding their role and responsibilities to safeguard and protect the welfare of all Junior members. Our Junior safeguarding policy is kept at reception and our safeguarding welfare officers have been appointed to ensure our coaches are complying to the safeguarding policy at all times.

GOOD HOUSEKEEPING

We ask all members to replace any loose equipment they use back onto the storage racks provided. This provides a clean and safe gym for other members to use and reduces the risk of accidents and injury, making the gym a safer place to exercise. It is not the staff’s job to tidy weight discs and dumbbell off the floor after use. It is the member’s responsibility to use the storage racks available. Staff will ask any members leaving loses equipment on the floor to tidy up. Members who ignore staff requests will be reported to management and may have their membership cancelled without refund.

CUSTOMER NOTICE

Following the government’s announcement to temporarily shut-down all gyms as of the 20th of March due to COVID-19, we are sad to say we will be closing our doors until further notice.
 
IMPORTANT – All existing members monthly direct debit payments will be frozen for the duration of time that we are closed. Please don’t cancel your direct debit, we will take care of it. When we re-open, your monthly payments can then continue. If you have any concerns or queries regarding your direct debit, please contact Harlands directly –
